Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarships 2027

Up to $60,000/year for three years supporting doctoral research in social sciences and humanities at Canadian universities, open to Canadian and international students.

Annual value of up to $60,000 per scholar for up to three years, including a $20,000 annual travel and research allowance, providing exceptional support for doctoral research touching on human dignity, responsible citizenship, or Canada and the world.

• Canadian citizen or landed immigrant enrolled in the first or second year of a doctoral program in social sciences or humanities at a Canadian university
• OR a Canadian citizen in the first or second year of doctoral studies in social sciences or humanities at a foreign university
• OR a foreign national (preference given to candidates from the developing world) in the first or second year of doctoral studies at a Canadian university
• Research must be linked to one of the Trudeau Foundation's four themes
• Nomination by a university is required — candidates cannot apply independently

2. 2Work with your supervisor to develop a research proposal linked to the Foundation's themes
3. 3Secure a university nomination — the Foundation accepts a limited number of nominations per institution
4. 4Submit your nominated application through the Trudeau Foundation's online system at trudeaufoundation.ca
